Evaluate

Objectives: During the Evaluate stage you should…..

  • MYP Interim Objectives for Grade 8 (MYP3)
Task specific clarification
  • carry out tests to compare your design against the design specification
  • The objectives have not been altered. See Task 1below for a possible way of meeting this objective
  • consider the success (and/or failure) of the product/solution in an objective manner based on testing, their own views and the views of the intended user
  • consider the success (and/or failure) of your design in an objective manner based on:
    •  testing
    • your own views and
    • the views of the Middle School / teachers going on the Middle School trips
  • consider the impact of the product/solution on individuals and/or on society
  • consider the impact of your design on our school community and your thoughts on its possible impact in the wider community
  • explain how the product/solution could be improved
  • explain how the design could be improved.
  • reflect on their performance at each stage of the design cycle•
  • This should have already been done at the end of each stage
  • identify the parts they found difficult and suggest ways in which their performance could be improved.
  • identify the parts you found difficult and suggest ways in which your performance could be improved.

Possible ways to ackomplish these objectives:

  1. Compare the final product to the original design specification. Check each specification point. Does your final product meet all these requirements. USe a test to decide (you should have already created a test to use when you were working on your investigation. Dont worry if you havent got one, make one now!)
  2. Assess the efficiency of the process (including time) and
  3. Suggest ways of improving it
  4. Assess the aesthetic and practical qualities of the product
  5. Suggest ways of improving the quality of the product
  6. If not already done - Reflect on your overall performance at each stage of the design cycle
  7. Write a paragraph explaining the impact your design has had on the Middle School.

Check your rubric again. Good Luck!

Look at a wonderful piece of Design work by Lisa Hildebrand. here. This should give you a good idea about the expectations of this unit.
