"A proper plan should act as an instructions’ sheet with detailed steps to an extent that will enable a second person to create the product just by following this plan." IBO, 2006
Objectives
You MUST:
- construct a plan to create the product/solution that has a series of logical steps
- construct a plan to create the product/solution that makes effective use of resources and time
- evaluate the plan and justify any modifications to the design.
Students could; use Gantt charts, devise timelines, devise a net and produce detailed flow charts, consider appropriate materials and consider potential problems, making necessary adjustments.
You now need to check you can make your product.
Create a logical plan including:
- The steps needed to create your product
- Look at your design and identify each element e.g... For a poster there might be a guitar, a guitarist, a stage and some text. The guitar may have 6 strings a body a sound hole and machine heads. Each part needs to be written down in a list of things to do (steps).
- Maybe you need to learn a skill to create part of your product. Perhaps filling text with a photograph or cooking a vegetarian feast. Be careful, It takes time to learn a new skill.
- Organise the steps into a logical order.
- The resources needed to create your product
- Now think about what tools will be the best to make each part.
- The time plan.
- When will you create each part and fill in your process journal? When will you test your final product before writing your evaluation?
- Critically evaluate the plan. Can you make it and can you do this in time? If you think something will be too hard to make or just have a better idea you can still make changes to your design idea. Just draw a quick sketch and justify the change.
REMEMBER: A proper plan should act as an instructions’ sheet with detailed steps to an extent that will enable a second person to create the product just by following this plan
